The first gathering of all 10 ASEAN countries
Professor Kiyoung Lee, Environmental Health Department of Graduate School of Public Health, Seoul National University, and his team host an inception workshop of the Clean Air for Sustainable ASEAN (CASA) project on October 26-27, 2023, at the Koreana Hotel, Seoul, Korea.
More than 50 government officials and researchers from 10 ASEAN member countries attended the workshop, sharing their views on the project and the installation of air quality monitoring stations. They also joined the field trip to the Seoul Institute of Health and Environment(SIHE) and Urban Measuring station in Jung-gu operated by SIHE, learning Korea’s air pollution monitoring and management system and earning background knowledge in practical application.
The workshop was followed by the first Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting of CASA to present the strategy, approaches as well as organizations and stakeholders responsible for the project management and implementation. The Project Management Unit, led by Professor Kiyoung Lee, delivered presentations on the overview of a four-year work plan and budget plan of the project. ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC) members welcomed the official inception of the project.
